Arcmage is a strategic card game where you build a kingdom, summon creatures, and wage war against your opponents. Deploy cities as the foundation of your empire, devote residents to unlock powerful city abilities, and marshal an army to crush your enemies. With five unique factions—Gaian, Dark Legion, Red Banner, House of Nobles, and The Empire—every deck plays differently. Will you overwhelm with hordes of orcs, control the battlefield with noble schemes, or harness the power of nature?

Key Features

Resource System

Convert any card face-down into a faction resource. Balance drawing cards vs building your resource base.

City Devotion

Mark creatures as devoted to unlock escalating city abilities. Higher devotion = stronger effects.

Army vs Kingdom

Creatures in your army can attack and defend freely. Residents in cities only defend their home.

Combat Resolution

Attackers strike defenders simultaneously. Unblocked attackers damage the city directly.

Game Mechanics

Unmark
All your marked cards become unmarked, replenishing your resources and creatures for the new turn.
Draw & Resource
Choose: draw 2 cards, draw 1 and play 1 resource, or play 2 resources (no draw).
Tactics
Devote creatures to cities to activate powerful city abilities. Marked creatures show their devotion.
Play
Play creatures, enchantments, and magic cards. Move creatures between cities and your army.
Attack
Declare attackers from your army against an enemy city. Defenders block, then damage resolves.
Play
A second play phase after combat for additional spells and creature movement.
Discard
Discard down to 7 cards in hand if needed.

Quick Start

  1. Build a 45-card deck with at least 3 cities and cards from any faction combination.
  2. Start with one city in play and 7 cards in hand.
  3. Each turn: unmark cards, draw/resource, devote for city powers, play cards, attack, then discard.
  4. Play creatures to cities, then move them to your army when ready to fight.
  5. Destroy all enemy cities to win, or force them to draw from an empty deck!

How to Play

Win Condition

Destroy all of your opponent's cities, or force them to draw from an empty deck.

Deck Building

  • Exactly 45 cards
  • At least 3 city cards
  • Maximum 3 copies of any card
  • Cards can be from any faction combination

Resource System

Place cards face-down as resources for any faction of your choice. Mark resources to produce power for playing cards.

Combat

  1. Declare attackers from your Army targeting an enemy city
  2. Defender assigns blockers from Army and city residents
  3. Damage is simultaneous—attackers vs defenders
  4. Unblocked damage hits the city's defense
  5. Cities at 0 defense are destroyed
